San Francisco native Mica
Lee Williams recently received the honor of being named a Winner
by the Song of the Year (http://www.songoftheyear.com/ )
songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international
songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation.
The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music
including many Grammy Award winners.
Song of the Year is
excited to recognize Mica for her exceptional songwriting ability
for the song Don’t Mind the Rain. Mica competed against
songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked
what inspired the song Mica commented that, “ I miss the thunder
storms in New England sometimes, living on the West coast. We had
a tremendous lightening storm one night, so I sat in my room and
wrote a song about how much I didn’t mind.”
Currently Mica is
concentrating on her second album, which the winning song will be
featured on, while hoping to gain more exposure. “I’d like to
get my music out in as many venues as possible. Winning contests
like this one keeps me motivated.”
